Potassium iodide is a metal halide composed of potassium and iodide with thyroid protective and expectorant properties. Potassium iodide can inhibit the absorption of radioactive iodine by the thyroid gland by filling the thyroid with non-radioactive iodine and preventing the uptake of radioactive molecules, thereby protecting the thyroid from cancer-causing radiation.
Application
» Used in adsorbents, machine wash fluids/detergents, automotive care products, paints, coatings or adhesives, fragrances and air fresheners, coolants in refrigerators, oil-based electric heaters, hydraulic fluids in automotive suspension, lubricants in engine oil and brake fluids.
