Kaolin appears as an odorless white to yellowish or grayish powder. It contains the clay mineral kaolinite (Al2O3(SiO2)2(H2O)2), which is mainly a hydrated aluminosilicate. Kaolin is insoluble in water, but when wet, it thickens and creates an earthy odour sand etc. It is prepared for pharmaceutical and medicinal purposes by being lifted into the air with water to remove

» It has industrial uses as processing aids, additives, abrasive, absorbent, anti-caking, moisturizing, opacifying.
» It is used in fillers, ion exchange agents, laboratory chemicals, ceramics, oxidizing/reducing agents, paint additives and coating additives, pigments, plasticizers, process regulators, processing aids.
