Hydrofluoric acid is a solution of hydrogen fluoride in water. It is a colorless smoky liquid that can cause painful burns. Hydrogen fluoride (Hydrofluoric acid) is a weak acid that is the precursor to nearly all fluorine compounds, including pharmaceuticals such as Prozac. It is used as a chemical reagent in various industrial processes such as oil refining. It is also used as abrasive, cleaning agent, a reagent to dissolve oxides and silicates.
