Barium carbonate is a white powder. It is insoluble in water and soluble in most acids except sulfuric acid. It has a specific gravity of 4,275. It is toxic if swallowed.

» Commonly used in lubricants and greases, metals, welding, brazing products, metalworking fluids and hydraulic fluids.
» In industry, it is used in the formulation of mixtures.
» Used in machine wash liquids/detergents, automotive care products, paints, coatings, adhesives, fragrances and air fresheners.
» It is used in coolants in refrigerators, oil-based electric heaters, hydraulic fluids in automotive suspension, lubricants in engine oil and brake fluids.
