Acetone is a manufactured chemical that is also naturally found in the
environment. It occurs naturally in plants, trees, forest fires, vehicle
exhausts, and as a breakdown product of animal fat metabolism. Acetone
is used to make plastics, fibers, pharmaceuticals, and other chemicals.
It is also used to dissolve other substances.
